This Saturday, the Raiders will host a special tribute to Hall of Famer Jim Otto at Allegiant Stadium, shortly before their preseason game with the Dallas Cowboys.
The ceremony will feature Jim Otto's family, with his widow, Surprisewill, leading approximately ten family members in lighting the Al Davis Memorial Torch. This act of remembrance takes place before the game's kickoff, honoring Otto's extraordinary legacy.
In honor of Otto’s remarkable impact on the team, the Raiders will continue to feature his No. 00 on their helmet decals, a tribute that began last week during their season-opening game in Minnesota. The team made official announcements about the tribute as they head into this weekend’s game.
Jim Otto, who passed away last May, is remembered for his unwavering dedication to the Raiders, having played all 15 years of his NFL career with the team dating back to his time in Oakland, from 1960 to 1974.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early: Gates open one hour before the 7 p.m. game, which will also be broadcast on NFL Network.
To round out the event's entertainment, the Jabbawockeez, a renowned dance troupe and long-time Las Vegas entertainers, will perform during the intermission. Known for their signature masked breakdancing, the Jabbawockeez have been a staple of Las Vegas entertainment, first appearing on the Strip in 2010 after winning “America's Best Dance Crew.”
During a recent ESPN segment, host Pat McAfee humorously suggested that some of the breakdancers at the Paris Olympics were unmasked Jabbawockeez, adding a lighthearted note to the homage.
Additionally, R&B artist Lalah Hathaway will sing the national anthem, marking her debut performance at a Raiders game. Hathaway, known for her multi-vocal singing ability, is a Grammy winner and the daughter of soul music legend Donny Hathaway.
